• High-resolution models: 4096×4096 px.
• Designed specifically for working with the human body. This is what makes tattooing different from other artistic disciplines. Alongside creating an interesting and well-structured design, it is essential to place it naturally and harmoniously on the body, taking into account every curve and transition of its forms, as well as connecting the composition when working around a limb, such as an arm or leg.
• Visualize and develop your tattoo designs directly on the 3D model. You can draw directly on the model using Procreate brushes, create compositional sketches, and develop your ideas while training your ability to think and design in three dimensions.
• Create photo collages and plan compositions in 3D. You can test placement, connect different elements, and develop well-balanced compositions. This is especially useful when working in styles such as realism.
• Use 3D models during client consultations. Visualizing the planned tattoo directly on the model in Procreate helps eliminate misunderstandings. You can show the client the intended size, level of detail, and how the design will look from different angles. You can also explain how many sessions may be required and what the client is actually paying for. Planning the work session by session also makes the process much easier to communicate.
• Perfect for online consultations. I often use 3D models when developing designs remotely. Simply record your iPad screen and demonstrate the design from different angles while adding voice commentary. This is extremely convenient when your client lives in another city or when you don’t have time for constant in-person consultations.
• Use 3D models for cover-ups and tattoo corrections. Fixing or covering someone else’s tattoo is an important part of a tattoo artist’s work. 3D visualization allows you to plan the cover-up properly: determine where to place the darkest areas of the composition, shift the visual focus to another part of the body, incorporate the existing tattoo into the new design, and show the client exactly how the result may look. It can also help explain when a client’s expectations are unrealistic—for example, when they want to cover a large black tattoo with another design of almost the same size. A 3D visualization can clearly demonstrate why this may not be possible and why the cover-up may require a larger design, more sessions, and a greater investment.
• Work with UV layouts. One of the most important parts of working with 3D models, besides drawing directly on the model, is working with its UV layouts. I created two layouts for each body part — front and back. This makes it much easier to connect elements around the body or develop a design specifically for the outer or inner side of a body part.
• Show your designs in 3D on social media. Demonstrating how your designs look on the body is a great way to promote your projects and artistic style, as well as attract new clients.
• Unlock your creative potential and develop 3D thinking. These models are designed to help you take your creative process to another level by learning to think about tattoo design in volume rather than on a flat surface.
